As a writer she has written the drama Famous for Audible UK, Grantchester S8 for ITV & PSB, Legacy for Wondery Media, and was in the writers room for SPIRES, an Amazon Studios backed drama. She founded MsMono in 2019.
Under her leadership, MsMono have produced multiple award-winning short films and narrative music videos that have screened internationally, including at London Short Film Festival, BFI Futures Festival, and Cinequest, with a title now streaming on Amazon Prime. MsMono is also the original production company behind Do Not Disturb, the ground-breaking Black British comedy/drama on Audible UK. The company are now making TV. Karla has met with commissioners at Netflix UK, Sky, ITV, UKTV, and Channel 4 and developing a slate of scripted and unscripted projects.
Karla is the creator of MsMono Meets, a vibrant event series spotlighting honest, inspiring conversations with women working across film, TV and audio. To date, the series has delivered 18 events, welcomed 850+ attendees, and featured more than 40 industry creatives who have worked for Netflix, Sky Arts, BBC, Disney+, Channel 4, Curtis Brown, ITV, Casarotto Ramsay, Kudos, Audible UK, World Productions, and BAFTA-winner Abigail Dankwa.
