MsMono Meets are working with Universal Music Publishing Group (UPMG) to host a series of in-person events that celebrate women creatives in film and TV. Tips on a Successful Collab will feature writer/director Tara Aghdashloo, founder of Candid Broads Productions Oriane Pick, and Netflix music supervisor Jumi Akinfenwa. Hosted by music supervisor Kaya Pino.

Tara Aghdashloo – Writer/Director
Tara Aghdashloo is an award-winning writer, director, multidisciplinary artist and poet born in Iran. She is a published author who has worked as an essayist and journalist before transitioning to film. Her shorts have been commissioned by BFI Network, Canada Council of the Arts, BBC, Ontario Arts Council, and Toronto Arts Council among others, and competed at festivals globally, with various award nominations and wins. Tara’s debut narrative feature is a UK-Canada co-production in development with Caspian Films and supported by Telefilm Canada and Ontario Creates.
Oriane Pick – Founder of Candid Broads Productions
Oriane Pick is a French-British actor and producer with a collection of international awards under her belt, who is carving out her place as one of the most compelling talents in the industry. In 2020, she founded the BAFTA-nominated production company Candid Broads Productions, driven by a passion to spotlight the untold stories of underrepresented communities and to revolutionize the cinematic landscape.
After a decade in major advertising agencies across France and the UK, Oriane returned to her first love: acting. Frustrated with the one-dimensional roles available to women, she took matters into her own hands, producing and acting in the short film SAY YOUR NAME, which earned her a ‘Best Actress’ nomination. This experience ignited her belief in the importance of portraying flawed, authentic women on screen. She then co-created and starred in the award-winning web series Call It a Day, which sparked a viral moment when a viewer commented, “ugh, another series about vulgar women being c**ts.” Oriane’s response was “You’re welcome.”
Candid Broads is set to release a slate of highly anticipated features, including TO THE GIRL I ONCE KNEW, starring Screen Star of Tomorrow Calvin Demba; ARTHUR & CLARA, the debut feature by Kieran Bourne; and ANATOMY OF THE SUN, featuring Antoine Olivier Pilon in collaboration with 222 Pictures. Upcoming projects also include EARL GREY, starring César nominee Kim Higelin, feature documentary BELLE on intergenerational trauma and women’s rights, and coming-of-age thriller TV series TREACLE, written by Annie Haworth.
In the short film arena, Oriane is producing the documentary FATIMA’S GOAL, hailed by The Guardian as “a modern-day Schindler’s List,” alongside the new comedy THE CONTRACEPTION FAIR, featuring Ronke Adekoluejo. Her recent film, THE DATE has garnered accolades as a 2024 BAFTA Cymru Breakthrough Nominee and took home the Best Film Award at the BIFA-qualifying Exit6 Film Festival, screening at prestigious venues like BFI and Aesthetica. This success is now paving the way for a feature-length adaptation, with Olivier-nominated director Amy Hodge and BAFTA-nominated writer Bethan Marlow.
Recognized for her recent contributions, Oriane was shortlisted as one of the 2023 Film London Lodestars in the Producer category and celebrated as Business Woman of the Year at the SME Awards in 2024.
Jumi Akinfenwa – Music Supervisor on The Kitchen for Netflix
Jumi Akinfenwa is a London-based freelance music supervisor, working on Film and TV projects. With a background in sociology and culture journalism, she applies a research-led and nuanced approach to her work, leaning into projects that tell human stories and champion marginalised communities. Her recent credits include Black British drama feature ‘The Kitchen’, directed by Daniel Kaluuya and Kibwe Tavares (Netflix / Film4), young adult romance ‘My Fault: London’ (Amazon MGM / 42) and sports TV documentary series ‘Break Point’ (Netflix / Box To Box Films). She is also an award-winning writer, with bylines in publications such as The Guardian, VICE and gal-dem.
Kaya Pino – Music Supervisor (Host)
Kaya Pino is a Canadian music supervisor working at King Lear Music and Sound based in London. Over her 8-year career, Kaya has garnered over 30 credits with an eclectic mix of TV and Film alongside her branding projects. She takes a deeply personal and anthropological approach to everything she does, blending relationships between movement, rhythm, sound, musicality, and humanity. Her recent credits include television series The Listeners (BBC/Freemantle), feature film All of You (MRC) and the Made for More campaign for Hennessy.
